Mixer's Comments
The original 1999 description for the mix:
"This mix started when a guy asked me to mix the track Made In Heaven with Queen and Mercury parts. Well first I didn't want to do it cause it might end up as another "Duet Mix" and since there were some Duet Mixes after I created the Duet Mix Doing All Right it's not very original :-). But all in all I started with it anyway. And this is it. I used the Queen version, the Video EP version of Freddie and the Extended Version of Freddie. It has some nice effects in it plus some 'duets' between the 1985 Freddie and the 1995 Freddie. Created with Cool Edit again."

The new 2001 description for the mix:
This mix was suggested by a Dutch Queen fan back in March 1999. He wanted to hear a Queen and Freddie version mixed into one. So I tried to do my best and started to mix.
It starts for a few seconds with the Queen version and then goes into the video version of Freddie's MIH. Then many different versions start to fade in, including Freddie's extended version. Queen's version will start to rule the mix, but just when you think Queen will continue, the Freddie version starts with the piano intro.
From then I used both the Queen and Freddie version, trying to create something like a duet or an echo. During the mix I also swapped versions from Freddie to Queen and back. It even features a Queen guitar solo which is (horribly?) mixed with the reversed part of that same guitar solo. After that a weird drum solo pops up which leads into the Freddie version again.
The end sounds pretty nice: a lot of drums, the audience of the Freddie video version and then that weird drum solo again.
Maybe you can say that this whole mix is weird. I should have called it Weird Mix instead of Queen VS FM Mix :-)

go back...
